With the growing threat of cyber-crimes globally, businesses across several industries have increased their investments in security technology to protect their customers and their business operations.
Within this context, National Commercial Bank Jamaica Limited (NCB), as part of its strategy to enhance the security of its online platform to protect customers from fraud, internet scams and other cyber threats, recently introduced the RSA SecurID token (security tokens) to its business customers. RSA SecurID is a globally recognised security tool utilised by many banks to protect confidential customer information and assets.
Phase 2 of the implementation will roll-out the security tokens to its retail online banking customers beginning February 6, 2017. These customers will be required to register and begin utilizing their security tokens by April 4, 2017 to enhance the security of their account and to avoid service disruption. As a result of the upgrade, there will be some system downtime on the online banking platform from February 4th – 5th.
Retail customers will have the option to utilize a “hard” security token, which is a physical device available at their nearby branch or a “soft” token which can be downloaded on their smartphone devices. Customers will receive information on how to register via email and the online banking platform but can also visit www.jncb.com/rsa or call the NCB Customer Care Centre at 1-888-622-3477 for more detailed information.
Customers are also encouraged to be as vigilant about their online security as they are about their physical security. Tips for how customers can protect themselves online are available at https://stopthinkconnect.org.jm/.
